Holy Week Services

Palm Sunday: Palm Sunday, the day we remember as the day of our Lord Jesus' triumphant entry to the city of Jerusalem was observed on March 16. Our members marched around the church holding palms and singing 'Hosanna' to the highest, reminded the event that took place around two thousand years ago. Worship service was held after the procession.

Maundy Thursday

The day commemorates the Last Supper of Christ and His twelve disciples and the institution of the Holy Eucharist was observed on Thursday, March 20th. Most of our members attended this special service.

Good Friday Service

Good Friday service was held on March 21, Friday at the main Sanctuary. Mr. Philip Itty, Mr. Ipe Varghese, Mr. Varghese Easow Mathew, Mr. Kevin Eapen, Mrs. Marykutty Varkey, Mrs. Rachel Cherian (NJ) and Mrs. Shanthi Sam shared their reflections based on the last seven verses of our Lord Jesus Christ from the Cross. Our Achen, Rev. Mathew P. George led the opening service and the intercessory prayers. Refreshments were provided after the service. Thanks to those families who brought refreshments.

Easter Sunday

We shared the joy of our Savior's resurrection with millions around the world on this special day. Our worship service started at 6 a. m and Holy Eucharist was celebrated during the service. Our choir presented two songs based on the resurrection and a slide show was also presented after the service. There was an exciting 'egg hunt' was held for the children. Thanks to Mr. Ajo Cherian and the leaders of our Youth Fellowship members who organized the slide show presentation and the egg hunt. Special Thanks to our choir leaders and members for presenting the special songs.

Women's Sunday

Our congregation observed March 2nd as the Women's Sunday of the year. Women's Fellowship members lead the worship service in many ways. Mrs. Leelamma Ipe delivered the special message. Women's Fellowship members presented a song before the dedication prayer. A bake sale was also arranged after the service.
The proceeds from the bake sale goes to help a needy family in Kerala to support their daughter's education. Thanks to all who led the worship service. Sincere thanks to all who generously contributed to the Fund raising efforts. Special thanks the leaders of our Women's Fellowship for organizing this program.

World Day of Prayer

The joint World day of prayer was held at the St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church in Yonkers. Rev. Mathew P.George delivered sermon during the service. Around 15 members from our congregation attended this prayer meeting.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Parish Day

Our Congregation celebrates its 14th Anniversary on April 10. Let us sincerely thank our God for guiding us all these years. We went through good times as well as tough times; but God has been with us in all our troubles. Let us use this opportunity to thank Him and praise Him for His mercy and guidance. As a congregation, we will observe April 13, Sunday as Parish Day to show our gratitude to our Almighty God. Please mark you calendar and attend the worship service with our families. The service starts at 10 a.m. on that Sunday.

Monthly Prayer meeting

There will be a prayer meeting at the parsonage on April 5 at 6:30 p.m. All members are invited to attend this prayer meeting.

UCC New York Metro Association Spring Meeting

UCC NY Metro association spring meeting will be held on April 26, 2008 at Christava Tamil Koil Church, NY.

Cottage Prayer Meeting

There will be a cottage prayer meeting at the residence of Mr. Philip Itty (99 West Burda Place, New City, NY 10956 ) on April 19, Saturday at 6:30 p.m. All Families are invited to this prayer meeting.

Family Retreat-2008

This year's Family retreat will be held from August 22-24 at Grace Manor Retreat Center, Greenville, NY This center is only 2 hours drive from Yonkers and fully furnished with modern amenities. Please note these dates and plan ahead to attend this spiritually enriching program. Please register your names with Mr. Sam Kuruvilla, Coordinator of Retreat-2008, as early as possible. Please uphold the retreat and its preparations in our prayers.

Please open up our homes for more fellowship meetings this year. Please pay particular attention to this matter. When we arrange prayer meetings, please give less priority to food and other refreshments. This year, Laity Fellowship is taking responsibility to arrange prayer meetings and please see Achen or Mr. Cherian P. Cherian for more details.

Thank you for your support and cooperation in our financial matters. Please pay your monthly subscription and other dues on a monthly basis to avoid last minute rush. It eases the burden and help our church to meet its financial obligations. Our daily expenses are met by our generous contributions. Remember, God loves a cheerful giver. Giving should be from your heart.

We conduct a weekly conference call prayer and Bible study led by our Achen every Wednesday night at 9 PM. If you wish to join, the conference call number and access code is published in the newsletter.
